Yes it is correct. Not sure where you are getting your information from but the Inauguration is definately on the 21st. There is a private ceremony today in which the president is actually oficially sworn in for the 2nd term but the public one at the National Mall is tommrow 01/21/2012. The above verified venues don't appear to be active today (Sunday, January 20), although they apparently were active earlier. Some have reported that the monuments on The National Mall worked (e.g., Washington Monument), but that was yesterday - Saturday. The National Mall should work tomorrow (Monday, January 21).

Yes, it will tell you, but checking in at the venue (if it even exists) will likely not unlock the badge. And there aren't PIC events associated with the venues. I tried at three, local events in New England detailed on the PIC web site as occurring today (Sunday, January 20) - no badge.
