Tested both way, by following and not following Window Phone both way can unlocked the badge as long as u click on the event. Sorry guys my english not really good.

Looks like there will be events going on all week long. Sohould be events in 15 cities across the country. But not 100% sure yet so I would say get the badge while you can.

I do believe that you have to checkin during the event which starts at 7pm not sure when it ends.
